Launched in June 2018, about twenty companies in the department have already tested the « team building piloting » program !

These men and women are used to « driving » teams of employees. On this day, it was a 400 hp BMW 2 Series that they were going to « drive straight ». On Friday, eight Côte-d’Oriens members of the Objectif Business Beaune entrepreneurs’ club took to the track at Dijon-Prenois. The aim: to learn how to be better managers. Among them were bosses of SME (small and medium-sized enterprises) carpenters, construction companies, insurance firms and lawyers…

« The worlds of driving and business are very similar. Particularly when it comes to semantics: in a car, as in a company, you accelerate, you brake, you drive, you crash… Bringing these two worlds together is not trivial », explains Thierry Cesareo, director of the human resources and business development agency Azimut Partners, who invited his customers to take part in Dijon Auto Racing’s track day.

The key to successful management is…

« We put employees behind the wheel of this racing car to take them out of their comfort zone and touch their emotions. During the ten minutes they are behind the wheel, they are filmed via an on-board camera and another located outside the vehicle », explains our contact.

The videos are then viewed. « We decipher the micro-expressions on their faces. Because if you can block out your emotions and show nothing through your body posture, your face never gives anything away, » says Thierry Cesareo.

While the candidate is having the time of his life in the turns, the coach can detect physical reactions that reveal fear, letting go, a feeling of power or loss of control.

« We then help the « pilot » to recognize these signals and become aware of his emotions. Then, we teach him how to manage them. Once these two stages have been completed, he will feel empathy and turn towards others, as he will no longer have to look after himself », assures the director of Azimut Partners. And turning towards others, listening to them and feeling their emotions is, according to this specialist, the key to successful management.

Launched in June, some twenty companies in the department have already tested the « team building piloting » program (see opposite). It usually takes place on the runways of Dijon-Bourgogne airport. The cost is €1,000 per employee.

« The world of driving and the world of business are very similar. […] Bringing these two worlds together is not an easy task. » Thierry Cesareo, Director of human resources and business development agency Azimut Partners.
