GOALS

– Adopt irreproachable road behavior in all circumstances.
– Be able to manage a crisis situation while on duty.
– Preserve personal integrity and the integrity of the injured party.
– Maintain stability in sensitive intervention zones.

Mobilized skills
– Master the basics of driving.
– Control your ambulance in complete safety, while complying with the Highway Code.
– Anticipate road hazards to arrive as quickly as possible at the care center, without endangering yourself or others.
– Adopt the right behaviour when faced with an injured person posing problems.
– Calm an anxiety-provoking situation.

Evaluation methods
– Trainee positioning at the start of the course.
– Trainee assessment using the following methods: On-the-spot assessment, quizzes and role-plays.
– Follow-up and support for trainees throughout the course, using the following methods: quizzes and MCQs.

Methods employed
– Knowledge transfer: Videos, comprehensive training aids.
– Co-construction between participants: group discussions, case studies, individual quizzes.
– Immersion: trainee situations, observations and debriefings, optimization of actions, corrective action, demonstration.

DAY 1 : The basics of piloting

  • Mechanical principles (speed, acceleration, braking, centripetal force, trajectories).
  • Application of mechanical principles to driving.

 

Practice :

  • Simulator application.

DAY 2 : Field application D1

  • Definition of circuit layout, tests.
  • Practical workshops on braking and trajectories.

 

Practice :

  • Practice the basics of driving on a test track with a race car.

DAY 3 : Field application D2

  • Ambulance road behavior.
  • Testing limits and zones not to be reached.
  • Rules of good driving, the environment and road users.
  • Applying the basics of driving an ambulance.

 

Practice :

  • Practical experience with ambulances.

DAY 4 : Crisis situations

  • Synthesis of previous training, mastering and managing a delicate situation in a confined environment (ambulance care area), in transit (during transport), in a hostile area (stoning, etc.).

 

Practice :

  • Reproduction of scenarios on the runway with actors (armed soldiers) or on the road with obstacle management and crisis situations in the care zone.
